- Juan Antonio “Tony” Hernandez, the brother of Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez, was detained by federal agents in Miami on drug and weapons charges.
- James Margolin, the chief public information office for the U.S. attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York, said Hernandez was charged with “conspiring to import cocaine into the United States, and related weapons charges”.
- A convicted drug trafficker had previously testified that he had met with Hernandez and discussed payment for a money laundering.
The Honduran president’s office issued a statement Friday evening confirming Hernandez had been detained.
