Two nuns are accused of embezzling thousands of dollars from a Catholic school to fund trips to Las Vegas, according to local reports.
Sisters Mary Kreuper and Lana Chang stole about $500,000 in tuition, fees and donations, according to KABC-TV.
The parish’s pastor said in a statement, “This matter came to our attention during financial reviews in connection with the change in leadership at our School. Other staff persons were not implicated or responsible,”
The nuns’ order, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, said the nuns are cooperating and intend to pay back all of the money.
